Living Room and Dining Room….and so it begins!

So I finally got the ok from my hubby to start decorating the shared living room and dining room in our home! Oh you know I have been waiting for this DAY!!!! I’ve had an idea of what I wanted all along so I just can’t wait to get started.

Check out some of my ideas via Olioboard….

living room

Can you kinda tell what direction I am headed? I really can’t sum up my style in one or two words…and least not yet…lol! I love mixing and matching  and contrasting just like Candice Olson does! Shiny and Matte….Traditional and Modern…..Masculine and Feminine makes for a space that’s comfy and inviting. Not sure what pop of color I want to bring into this room but I am loving aqua and gray right now…

ss_Shadowplay1B

I’m dying to try that scrolled gray and white/cream wallpaper and I ordered a sample from Seabrook, that is to die for! I first saw it on Becky Higgins sight and new I had to have it. Her friend is an interior designer and ordered it for her when they were working on her home….OMG…LOVE. I will be using it on one wall only because it’s sorta on the pricey side! I can’t wait!

Of course I already switched out my dirty carpet before we moved in and got some dark wood floors(which I am having a hard time keeping clean-any suggestions??)

I also would love to build a mantel for a fireplace or start off with one of those above on the oliboard and make it a little chunkier with some wood and a handy man:0)

Here are some photos that are also inspiring my space transformation……

My TOP 10 FAVORITE Blog Projects of 2010!

The year is coming to an end and I just wanted to share with you my favorite blog projects from all over blog land this year! Each one of these ladies are wonderful bloggers and gifted in creativity. So awesome to share a blog world with them and wish they were all my neighbors! lol,,,  In no particular order…..here they are!

jens laundry room tatertots and jello

Jen’s Beachy Laundry Room at Tatertots and Jello. What’s not to love about this fabulous redo!!! The color choice is excellent and the fact that she used her own ideas and adapted some from others is what I love best!  I love Jens’ style and the dedication she puts into running such a fabulous blog!!

pantry_ps2

Shelley’s Pantry Remix. What can I say! LOVE this. I love the vinyl in the back and I think it gives the space such a unexpected look!  Even though some don’t understand why she put so much effort in such a little space, I DO! Because we use the pantry everyday and when you see something nice to look at, it makes you want to keep it clean and neat(most of the time)! Shelley was one of the first to feature my blog and for that I am forever thankful! In reality I would have picked about 200 of her projects…lol…but that would just be an all about Shelley post:0)

Kalleen’s Hand Tree Art over At Second Street. This project is so fun! Such a simple idea turns into something meaningful for your home! I love to decorate with intentions and purpose and this idea goes right along with that philosophy!! I can’t wait to finish mine…one day…lol! Thank you so much Kalleen for sharing such a wonderful craft idea with us all! I am sure that a gazillion women have this project bookmarked:0)

Kate the Centsational Girls Trellis Hand Painted Metallic Wall:0) This is just beautiful! The fact that she hand painted it makes it even more GORGEOUS!!! I stumbled upon Centsational Girl when I was looking for a certain type of fabric. She used it on one of her projects and I emailed her asking if she happen to have the SKU number….she sweetly emailed back saying on her next trip to Joann’s she would try to find it for me! How awesome is that:0)

bathroom_mirror_015_thumb[2]

Sausha at Show and Tell gave us a fabulous tutorial of how to frame a builder grade mirror. You know the ones that we get with our $100,000+ house:0). She did about three of them to her home and they all turned out fabulous! Not to mention her home is just LOVELY! You will be looking for around her blog for awhile:0)

IMG_2511_3494

and I was so excited to finally have a small tool set for all of those little house projects and Christmas presents that need to be put together. These Husky sets are perfect for all the battery operated toys your wee ones will be getting or the fun electronic toys for the grown up kids;0)  Reggie and I used it for a couple of different things….here we are putting the final touches on our ceiling fan in our guest room. We love the fact that it actually has a handle. Such a simple feature makes it so much easier to maneuver when your in tight little spaces!

 IMG_2514_3497 IMG_2513_3496IMG_2512_3495IMG_2515_3498

We also used this set to put together this BIG BOY!!!!!……..the most wanted item on some little ones wish list:0)

IMG_2522_3594

This tool set came with 5 different lengths for a Phillips head so it was just perfect for getting in tight spaces, odd corners and putting in the gazillion screws that came along with it! Reggie called it a life saver;0) and all though the kitchen cam with a little itty bitty screwdriver…we knew this set would be perfect for finishing the job:0)

Between the two of us and our T-Handle Screwdriver Set we got done in about 45 minutes…and if you have ever had to put one of these together then you know, that’s pretty FAST!
